Knights Edge North Point, Perpare for (the real) Turkey Bowl

Friendship held on against North Point last Friday, 15-14. The Eagles were well prepared with a very tough defense that prevented the Knights from sustaining drives. The Eagles passing game also looked good, but gave up three touchdowns, thanks to interceptions by Jalen Tabor. The team's much improved discipline, lack of penalties and "stay tough" spirit saved the day.
The attendance at the homecoming game against North Point, was the largest in Friendship History, filling the Eastern High stadium nearly to capacity. The crowd included a delighted Board Member, Gregory Prince, who came down from Vermont. Mr. Prince is a long time advocate for sports at Friendship, who encouraged our programs when others, including myself, sought to limit our involvement.
This Friday, the game that has come to be known as, "The Real Turkey Bowl," kicks off at 7:00 at H.D. Woodson's new stadium. The Warriors, DCIAA champions for the last three years, feature senior CB Kenny Crawely and senior DB John Walker. Other key Warriors to watch are running back Ivell Washington and top passer Darone Okolie. This year Woodson is 4-0 and will, no doubt, be one of the teams in the city championship, Turkey Bowl. However, high school football fans know that the best two teams in D.C. will be at Woodson Friday night in, “The Battle for South East”. Don’t miss it.
Go Knights!
