Crockett's outstanding performance (247 yards, 20 carries, and three touchdowns, including a 75 yard touchdown run), was not enough to hold on against Deleware's top rated Salesinium. Final Score 29-28.
As noted by Laurie Horvath, D.C.Sportsfan.com, Friendship Collegiate’s blessing is also its curse. The team represents an independent charter school, meaning that it doesn’t compete for a championship. By the same token, it can play all the top schools in the area, and reap all the recruiting talent that comes from the chance to play against some of the best teams in the D.C. area.
Friendship Collegiate head coach Aazaar Rahim knows it.“The caliber of the schedule we play attracts certain schools,” Rahim said. “Kids from smaller conferences – or even kids that may not get the chance to compete against bigger schools, like the DeMathas and Good Counsels – can come to our school and play a top notch schedule where the exposure is unlimited.” The bottom line is that kids who might not otherwise have a chance, get to go to college. Parents out there should know that there is no tuition and only a D.C. boundary requirement.
Coming up next, the Knights play the Bishop Ireton Cardinals (Alexandria, VA) in a non-league battle, on Saturday, October 31. Friendship Collegiate Academy will attempt to advance on its 4-4 season record. The Cardinals go into the battle with a 6-2 record after their 48-0 non-league win over Sidwell Friends (Washington, DC).
