October 22, 2010

Dear Business and Civic Leader:

I am reaching out to you on behalf of the Student Government Association (SGA) of Friendship Collegiate Academy (FCA). This year marks the Tenth Anniversary of the opening of our school in the former Carter G. Woodson Junior High on Minnesota Ave., NE. We have been fortunate to have made some major accomplishments in this short span of time such as:
• Achieved a 96% graduation rate and a 100% college and university acceptance rate
• First DC metropolitan area high school to establish an Early College program
• First high school in the District to win the prestigious Epic Award (by New Leaders for New Schools)
• First charter high school to win a College Board Inspiration Award
• The only District high school to participate in the National Football Signing Day. Last year we had 10 seniors sign on to major colleges and receiving significant scholarship support.

One of our first major activities to mark our Tenth Anniversary is a very special Homecoming celebration. On Friday, October 29th our football team will be playing Riverside Baptist at Dunbar High School at 7:00 pm. On Saturday, October 30, 2010 we will have a festive family and community friendly Homecoming Parade in our school neighborhood followed by a Tailgate Party on our front lawn on Minnesota Ave, NE.

The students of FCA would like you to join in the celebration and support us by being a sponsor of these events. In return for your partnership we will provide benefits ranging from listing in the football program, signage at the game and tailgate party, tickets to the football game, and a booth at the tailgate party.

FCA is part of the Friendship Public Charter School system and is a 501-c-3 non-profit, thus your contributions are tax exempt per the guidelines of the IRS. All proceeds will go to the Ralph Hodge Memorial Scholarship.

If you have questions please contact either Mr. Otis Ware or Mr. Latrail Hayes the Homecoming Co-Chairs (and our teachers) at 202-396-5500 or Mr. Barry Lofton, Friendship Director, Corporate & Community Relations at 202-281-1754 or by email at blofton@friendshipschools.org.

Thank you for your time and consideration

Jackie Joseph
