Vote for Crockett

Vote for Crockett - Band of Brothers - Washington Post

For the first time, the Washington Post is opening up the All-Met process to the public. Beginning Tuesday on washingtonpost.com, you will be able to vote on selections. Each week, the Post staff will reevaluate the team and publish a new list. As in the past, the final selections will rest with The Post's high school sports staff, which bases its assessments on interviews with coaches and on players' performances in games covered by the staff.

Our own Malcolm Crockett currently is "On the Bubble Offense":

Friendship Collegiate Academy senior Cardle Kindle loves to play football. He's pumped up on game day, as he finally gets to show off the results of hard practices in the summer heat. Practices endured with dozens of teammates trying to come together. "One of the reasons I'm on a team is because of brotherhood with my teammates," Kindle, above center, said. "Our hard workout sessions help us grow close." Now, after years of playing together, tight friendships have formed. Outside of practice and school, the players still hang out together. Friendship Collegiate Academy is a charter school in the District, so transfers happen every year. There are always new players trying to break in. This season, junior Malcolm Crockett, above right, is the new kid. Crockett moved to the District this summer after living in Montgomery County. "Coming to a new program, it was exciting," Crockett said. "I saw everybody focused, wanting to be successful. I was going to get pushed hard." And so with that, the bonds began to form. "He's the kind of person that likes to joke around but work hard," Kindle said. "That's what our team is all about, so he fit right in. That's pretty much all it takes to blend in on our team. You work hard, you want to win, and you want to have fun."
