The Battle of Northeast

  DC State Athletics @DCSAASports
HD Woodson & Friendship Collegiate is set to battle for DC Championship / Fri. Night (12-6) 7p @ Catholic Univ. @OSSEDC

After cruising past McKinley (43-0), Friendship plays the final game of the year this Friday against a famliar Northeast Washington Rival  H.D. Woodson. Before the DCSAA was formed, many recall this regular season match up as the "Real Turkey Bowl". If memory serves, Woodson defeated Friendship four years ago at Eastern High school with a quarter back on his way to Virginia Tech.  Since that time, the Knights have had the edge, but expect to see a lot of neighborhood pride from both sides of the field.
It's the last chance to see and thank our Seniors.
We are Friendship.  Go Knights!

Knights Defeat Eastern Christian and Advance in National Polls

Friendship defeated the number 4 team in Maryland at homecoming last Saturday, improving their overall record to 5-4.  The Knights continued their climb up the national ladder by defeating Eastern 27 to 24.  Friendship was behind by one point going into the fourth quarter.  Eastern, also an independent  is ranked by CBS/Maxpreps at 170.  The win moves Friendship +84 to 238 and improves their season record  to 5-4.

Last February, the Washington Post noticed the daunting schedule. According to the Post, Abdul-Rahim stated, “first and foremost our mission is to get our kids as much exposure as possible. A majority of these schools are prominent high schools that send a lot of kids to Division I programs so if we’re competing against these schools then our kids may get those Division I looks.”

Make your plans to see our scholar athletes in  “home” game viewing opportunities as the Knights enter the D.C. Playoff brackets.  With a bye the first week, the next game is against Perry Street on Saturday November 23rd .  There is one additional game on the 30th before the Knights appear in the D.C. Championship on December 7th.  Please mark you calendars for that date plan to see our Seniors on the field for the last time.

Friendship Passes Westlake and Prepares for Top Ranked Don Boscoe, Saturday October 12th

The Knights continued their highly successful season with a convincing win over Westlake of Waldorf Maryland by a score of 27-0.  Today's Washington Post noted Friendship's impressive defense which features All-Met Defensive Back Jalen Tabor. The Knights don't give up points easily.  Manatee, (National Rank 13) managed  Friendship's only loss, getting by with a score of 23-17.
The Knights are poised to break into a very elite group of nationally ranked programs. In the next four weeks, the Knights will play three teams who are or have recently  been in the national top 20.  (Don Boscoe, Bergen & Peramus).  Our chances are good!
Don Boscoe and Bergen are vulnerable. The two most storied  programs in New Jersey suddenly have losing records. Bergen Catholic and Don Bosco fell to 1-2  last Saturday. The Bergen Game is set for October 19.  On November 2, the Knights  to take on Paramus. (USA Today National Rank No. 3).  High School Football does not get better than this. Today's Post calls the Don Boscoe game, "huge".
Please make plans to support our students and staff this Saturday at 6:00 pm at the nearby Prince Georges Sports Complex (Fed Ex).  From I-95 take exit 17B (Route 202 North towards Bladensburg). Turn left onto Brightseat Road. Turn right onto Sheriff Road. Turn left at the first light (Harvey Drive). Drive up the hill onto the grounds of the complex.

No on-site event parking available. Proceed to Satellite Parking at FedExField - Green Lots D/B. Call 301-583-2400 for directions to Satellite Parking.

Eddie Goldman '10, Gets Consistent Starts at Florida State

Eddie (Friendship Class of ‘10, Parade High School All American) is now a Sophomore and  playing well on the defensive line in Tallahassee.  A friend of mine who is a Florida State Alumni reports that  in the opener against Pitt,  Eddie was in perfect position to make a huge play, but didn’t see the ball handed off to a man  in motion.  He may have been the subject of a  few jokes while reviewing  film on Monday.  However, we agreed that Eddie is big enough to handle it. Eddie  is making a steady contribution and is expected to  get nothing but better with more and more experience.
Go Knight Alumni!

How Good Is Friendship's Football Team?

Friendship's Schedule has been described as the most challenging in High School Football. That's because Coach Aaazar's only interest is putting his players into college with the ability to graduate. He figures that that best way to do that is by gaining national exposure  playing the very best high schools in the Nation.  So when we look at Friendship's record at 2-1 with a Washington Post Met Rating at only number 13, you might wonder just where we fit in.
Here's one way to look at it.  Perennial favorite, Good Counsel is rated Washington Met No. 1. Gillman (Baltimore Private) beat Good Counsel 20-14.  Manatee (renowned Florida Program)  beat Gillman 44-14.  Manatee.  Manatee got by our Knights last Friday with a score of 23-13.
I hope this information is helpful.
Go Knights!
